So, we best get outside today and enjoy b/c the snow may be back tomorrow! Â This time of year, with fluctuating temperatures, is hard on Lincoln’s landscape. Â Nebraska has one of the harshest climates for plants to survive in, with the freeze-thaw cycles we go through each fall and spring, among other environmental changes. Â The snow cover, in my mind, is a friend as the ground is pretty dry & plants can desiccate during the winter months. Â Snow also insulates the ground which is beneficial to our landscapes. Â As much as it can be a pain to navigate through, these snowfalls can play a critical role to the survivability and thrivability of the trees, shrubs and perennials at our homes and parks!
